Engine Company 10 was alerted for the house fire at 25861 Hills Drive in Mechanicsville, Mutual aid to St. Mary's County. Engine 102 responded with 6, along with Chief 10. First arriving units, Newburg E144 and Leonardtown Truck 1, advised a 1 story house with smoke showing. E102 was the first arriving engine, laid out and advanced a hose line through the front door. E102 found smoke throughout the house with a small fire in the kitchen with extension to the attic area. The homeowner had knocked down most of the fire prior to arrival with a garden hose. E102 knocked the remainder of the fire and assisted Leonardtown Truck 1 with opening up and checking for extension. With only minor extension found, command held the units from Mechanicsville, Leonardtown Truck 1 and Engine 102. Units operated on the scene for a little over an hour before returning to service.
