Busy Evening at The Dime

January 3, 2016

The Volunteers of the BAVFD were kept busy this evening for quite some time. The first call came in around 1800 hours for a MVC with 2 vehicles on Crain Highway near Bel Alton Newtown Road. Rescue Squad 10 and Ambulance 109 responded right away, and arrived to treat and transport an injured motorist for a check-up. While units operated on the MVC, Foam Tanker 10 responded to Woodbush Drive in St. Mary's County for the Working House Fire. Crews on scene battled the blaze in a vacant structure, while Tanker 10 assisted with water supply operations. Due to the fire, Engine 101 was transferred to St. Mary's County Company 2 for a duration to cover their area. While our units were in St. Mary's County, Engine 102 responded to a couple of calls in our county, to include a reported Chimney Fire in La Plata. Units cleared shortly thereafter.

While all units were on the street and operating at their specific incidents this evening, Station 10 maintained an additional 4th crew to staff the Rescue Squad, and any other remaining apparatus in the station in the event of another call. Thank You to our Dedicated Volunteers!
