Extrication with Fly Out on Crain Highway

On the evening of July 7th, RS10, RE13, Engine Company 14, PA51 and 14 and EMS 15 were alerted for a MVC with entrapment in the 10800 block of Crain Highway in Bel Alton's first due. Rescue Squad 10 arrived first, with Chief 10 and advised 1 vehicle on its side with a patient trapped. Chief 10 established the command and the crew from RS 10 began to stabilize the vehicle for extrication. Chief 1A arrived and assumed command and Chief 10 had the Extrication Group. Rescue Engine 13 arrived and stretched a hand line for suppression. The crew from RS 10 and Rescue Engine 13 worked together to extricate 1 patient from the vehicle, using the Hurst "O" Cutters and Maverick tools to flap the roof, while Engine 143 stood by with a safety line. The patient was extricated and turned over to EMS for evaluation. A medevac was requested, bringing MSP Trooper 7 to the scene. Units stood by at the LZ and helped load the patient, who was then flown to a local trauma center for treatment.
