First Due Barn Fire

May 21, 2014

While E101 and Chief 10B were operating on a Hazmat Investigation in Co.14's area, a strong storm blew into the south side of the county. As units were clearing the Hazmat call, they were re-routed to Rosier's Place for the "Working Barn Fire". E101 and Chief 10B responded but were delayed due to high winds and large hail. First arriving E12 found a large barn fully involved and requested additional tankers to the call. Chief 3B arrived and established the command, while E102 picked up E12's supply line. E101 arrived and dropped a secondary water supply. Chief 10B established the Water Supply Group and set up the tanker shuttle at the fairgrounds. Units worked for over 2 hours extinguishing and overhauling the structure. E44 was special called to the scene for their foam system due to the barn having a classic automobile and old tobacco stored in it. A big THANK YOU to our Ladies Auxiliary for providing refreshments to all personnel on the scene during this incident.
