Just before 3pm on April 9th, 2012, Units were alerted for a Town Home on fire at 102 Charleston Court in LaPlata. While units were marking up and en route, Communications advised that the Police along with EMS Duty 16A were on the scene and reporting fire showing from the roof and rear of an end of the row unit. With the information given to Chief 1A, he started a 2nd alarm. Engine 11 arrived on the scene and advanced a cross lay to the second floor to begin extinguishing the fire. E101 with Chief 10B arrived and picked up 11's line and advanced a second cross lay into the structure, first to the back deck and then to the second floor knocking the fire with the crew from E11. Rescue Squad 10 arrived and checked the exposure. Engine 102 arrived, on the 2nd alarm, and laid dual lines to the scene. Units worked on the scene for close to 3 hours before returning to service. Due to the hard work done by the units on the scene, the fire was contained to the fire building. Great job done by all on this fire!
